Vacation with the Wood Family

It was so much fun to have Jenny and Ryan and family visit us for four days.  They went to Disneyland for two days, and on the third day, we got permission to go up and be with them and enjoy California Adventureland, which is another part of Disneyland.  We had such a great time.  My favorite ride was "California Screamin'," which was the the roller coaster in the picture.  It was so fun.

Of course, we had to have our picture taken in front of Mickey Mouse's ferris wheel in the background.

Dick and I enjoyed riding with two little girls on the "Bug" ride.  Lyla (Jenny's daughter) is in the middle, and Jilly  Belon was a friend of hers whose family traveled to Disneyland and went together.
Oh, how I love these girls--Milly, Lyla and Ali.

Ali, Spencer, Zack, Milly and two other Belon kids rest after going hard for two days.
The "Cars" area was so fun.  This is Radiator Springs.  We enjoyed the cars ride.
The next day, we went to Coronado Island to the beach.  The kids loved it and didn't want to go.  It's a beautiful place.
Zack and Milly had a fun time trying to take each other down.

The next day, we went to the San Diego Temple so that Jenny's kids could do baptisms for the dead.  They had a few family names and then did other names as well.  It was Zack's first time to be able to do baptisms.  I stayed out with Milly and Lyla while the others went inside to do the baptisms.
The temple and temple grounds are so beautiful.  I love this picture of Lyla and Milly.
What a sweet picture of Jenny and the two girls.
Ryan, Dick and Zack come out of the temple after doing baptisms.
I love the doctrine of eternal families.  I want to be with this family forever.

After the temple, we went to the Mormon Battallion and saw a presentation.  It was well done.
The kids are panning for gold at the Mormon Battalion.
One of the sister missionaries dressed Zack up like a soldier in the Mormon Battallion.
The next day, we went to the San Diego Zoo.  The weather was perfect and we had a fun day.
We watched a real polar bear jump in the water and swim around under water.  It was great fun.
The kids liked this parrot.

It was a fun time with the Wood family and we're glad they came.

Young Single Adults are Always on the Go

We spend a lot of our time on the go with the young single adults.  They always have a party or activity planned.  Below,  they enjoy water balloon volleyball for their Monday night family home evening.

We love our sister missionaries, Sister Owens and McKee.  They were so enthusiastic.  This was our last get-together before they both were transferred.
Here are two of our students from our Book of Mormon class, Ruth Egbert and Jesse Krage.  We had one other (David Newman) but he wasn't there when we took the picture on the last day of class.

Our institute director, Marty Morgan, was being transferred to San Diego State University Institute, so we got some of the branch together to write in a book for him.

On Memorial Day, we had a fun pool party at President and Sister Little's house.  President Little is our branch president.  We had a great time and there was a pretty good turnout.

Tristin, Robin Russel and Jason Russ.  Robin and Jason are getting married in August.
Our new sister missionaries, Sisters Garlow and Pond.  They are great.

One of our students had his paintings in an art show.  Here is a picture of Alex Katensen and his mother at the art show.  We were able to go see his paintings and sculptures.  He's very talented.

Chelsey is an investigator and Phil is a member from China.  Nice kids.

President and Sister Clayton were released as mission president and wife.  We really enjoyed them.  They were kind, loving people.  This picture was taken at a training meeting for missionaries who work with YSAs.
