March Activities

March has been a very busy month.  It's good because it keeps us happy.  On March 12th, Richard and Mae Pattee returned from their mission in Belieze.  Richard and Mae are our good friends.  We picked them up at the airport, as most of their children are out of state.  We had a really nice conversation with them as we traveled home.  They gave their "welcome home" talks yesterday, and they did a great job.

Here are two of my good friends.  About 25 years ago, we were in the stake Primary Presidency together.  We always had the best time together and have gone out for lunch periodically during those 25 years.  We usually go to Brick Oven.  That is our favorite.  Sylvia Hafen Streuling is on the left, and Vicky Kendall is on the right.  They were my two counselors.  We usually have had Annette Vellinga (secretary), but she is currently serving a mission.  Also, we have had Diane Kapp (music director), but Diane is very, very ill.  Our hearts are sad because she couldn't be with us.

Every March, the "boys" go down to Phoenix for baseball spring training.  This year, Dick, Ryan, Spencer, Zack, Scott D., Andrew, little Matthew, Sam Kimball, Billy, Miguel Miller and his two boys, Isaac and Lucas, all went.  They had a great time.  So, I just went over to American Fork and spent "girl" time with Jenny, Ali, Milly and Lyla.  The weather was warm so we sat outside. 

Here is a group of our "empty nesters" in our ward.  Granted, there are some singles too.  We had a family home evening at our house, and Dick gave a lesson on British history, at the request of Marian Bradley.  We love these lifetime friends.

You know you're getting older when the Beehives invite you to their weekly activity to answer questions about your life when you were their age.  It was really fun, and I can't think of a better group of ladies than these ladies, who have been a tremendous influence on my life.

Here are Milly and Lyla enjoying being outside.  During the time I was with Jenny, we watched "girl" movies.  We watched "Little Women," "Jane Eyre" (the new one), "Sense and Sensibility," and then went to see "Ann of Green Gables" at the Covey Center in Provo.   Of course, we didn't take Lyla.  Geri Wood was kind enough to tend her.

After the play, Milly wanted to get her picture taken with some of the cast members:  Ann is on the left, her friend is on Milly's right, and Matthew is on the far right.  Of course, these are only the actors who played the parts.  It was very well done and lots of fun.  We enjoyed our "girl" time together.

Yesterday, we had a mini NYNY North reunion at our house.  What a fun, fun thing to get together with these missionaries that we love so much.  We had about 40 missionaries, including couples, who came.  We visited, ate, sang "Called to Serve," and just had a great time being together.

On Thursday, March 29th, we are off to Detroit to see Matt, Stacie, Jacob, Owen and our newest little granddaughter, Anna.  We are so excited to go see all of them, but especially the new baby.  It has been a very busy month for us, but a very rewarding one.
