On February 16th, Dick and I were set apart for our mission to the California San Diego Mission. Scott, Shelley and their three kids, and Ryan, Jenny and their five kids, came. It was great to have two of our five children and their families with us.

President David Warner set us a part. He gave us both very nice blessings. Afterwards, we went outside and took a picture with him and our family. It was a special experience.
On February 17th, we entered the MTC. We worked with this nice group of people for one week on "Preach My Gospel" training. The couple on the left are the Rails. He is David Rail's brother. Some of you know David. The cute guy in the middle was one of our instructors.
We came into California in a downpour. It was mighty scary driving, especially with all the traffic and rain. It rained for another two days, and then the sun came out and has been quite beautiful ever since, a little cool, but I'm not complaining. Above is a shot of Dick standing in front of Murray Lake, which is about two blocks from where we live. There is a walking trail, and we have been able to walk several days.
Walkers
Fishermen fishing for large-mouth bass.
We stopped to look at a group who called themselves the San Diego Greyhound Walkers Club. That was pretty neat to see.
We spend a lot of time at the Grossmont Institute Building. Mary Formanek is the secretary. She is a very pleasant person and easy to work with.
This is the classroom where we teach a class or two. There are two paid employees who teach the majority of the classes, Brother Morgan and Brother Raleigh.
Here is the lounge at the institute. There are usually several kids here playing the piano, guitar, ping pong, pool, and sometimes even studying. More pictures and information will be coming. We are enjoying working with the young people in the YSA Branch and at the institute, and San Diego is beautiful.

I love the family pictures, Evie. The picture of all your family with President Warner is beautiful! I have great memories of working with him on a couple of projects. So glad you are in a beautiful place, in lovely weather and off to a good start. Look forward to hearing more from you.
